Getting started with a scissors
After Installation, Scissors appears on an silver pad, positioned on the desktop.
This icon is associated with the utility program named Vidi-scissors. Its aim is to select and cut
desired screen-objects into the clipboard, into the file, into the editing program, or into the Vidi
window.
How to start-up the scissors?
A double-click on the pad is required to take the scissors into the function. The scissors and pad
starts at the recently used position, and can be repositioned to any desired desktop location.
The scissors appears on the pad with a handle, which collor represents the scissors cutting
mode.
A yellow button within the pad represents scissors nib. Both pad and scissors nibs are
permanently top-most on the screen.
Using the nib is quite simple. It can be moved with or without a pad. Being very small,
it can be
tolerated in most cases or temporarily switched off.
When the mouse enters into the pad area, the pad enlarges slightly, and help-label suggests
possible actions.
Moving the scissors pad
The pad can be moved and positioned to the desired position on the desktop by pressing the
left or right mouse button within the pad area and, subsequently, dragging it by moving the
mouse. Both the pad and scissors nibs move to the desired positions.
Moving the scissors-nib
The nib can be moved, separately from the pad, to the desired desktop position by pressing the
first (left for right-handed use and right for left-handed use) mouse button, and subsequently,
dragging it.
Returning the nib into the pad
Moving the mouse pointer into the scissors pad induce a jumping of the nib onto the scissors-pad.
Switching the scissors OFF/ON
Click on the scissors-pad opens a context menu:

Click on the Put down menu
switches the scissors OFF, and the scissors appears inactive on the
silver pad. Double-click on silver pad is used to take again the scissors ON – as described in How
to start-up the scissors?.
Changing the scissors-nib cutting mode
The scissors can cut windows in three different ways, which may be changed/set by subsequent double-click on the scissors-pad or nib. The colour of the scissors-pad, scissors-nib
and scissors-handle changes according to the current cutting mode.
Remark: right-click on the nib opens a scissor menu or moves it temporarily
to the nib, if
already opened on the scissors-pad.
: Rectangular mode. User can freely select the rectangular
areas for cutting. If
configured (Snapping is ON), the sub-rectangle detection proposes possible borders by
wrapping (or suggesting) the selection-rectangle borders to detected sub-window
borders.
: Freeform mode. A freeform closed curve can be drawn
around the chosen
window/screen area to make a selection .
: Smart Mode. Screen objects are automatically detected
and highlighted when
a mouse is dragged inside of the object. (*the Light Edition detects rectangular sub-windows only)
Opening-closing the scissors
Click on the Scissors nib or on the scissors-pad, toggles the scissors between opened and closed
state. When opened, scissors can be used to cut the content according to the current cutting
mode. When closed, scissors could be moved to the desired position without cutting anything.
Subsequent picture show the scissors firstly closed - ready to move and then opened - ready to
cut.
